In 2017, we founded an online campaign called #thisisirishfood. In its initial iteration, #thisisirishfood was a digital campaign for St. Patrick's Day that invited chefs, producers, restaurateurs, publicans and the broader public around the world to use the hashtag #thisisirishfood on social media to showcase our Irish food and the people and stories behind it.

Briny oysters slurped from their rugged shell, butter churned from lush pastures, and handmade bread made to ancient traditions.

Fish and seaweed from our clear waters, the smell of whiskey maturing across the island, and beers brewed from golden grain grown on Irish fields.

Honey harvested from the hedgerows, lamb that roamed the mountainside, and cider fermented from family-run orchards.

Cattle and pigs roam through our green meadows, game birds live wildly in our forests, and vegetables are pulled from our rich soils.

We wanted to use our national holiday to celebrate the best of authentic Irish food and showcase the diverse quality we have to offer. The intention of the campaign was an opportunity to present an alternative version of the food of this island. Instead of the shamrock shakes and green beer, we focused on celebrating the modern Irish food story and the people and places that make it.

Since 2017, the campaign has grown organically. It is used widely by businesses, journalists, influencers, and worldwide travelers across the island to showcase what Ireland's food offers to friends, family, colleagues, and followers. It has become a powerful search tool for people to seek the best of what Ireland offers regarding food, drink and experiences.

Our average monthly reach on social media is over 600,000, with an average of 11,000 engagement impressions.
