We are an assembly of expert food, beverage, and tourism advocates on the island of Ireland.

We are producers, chefs, brewers, restaurateurs, hoteliers, educators, retailers, academics, food historians, writers, speakers, content creators, menu designers, food festival & event planners, and, of course, food tourism professionals.

We believe in the importance of food and beverage in the growth of a country’s culture, heritage and tourism.

Our History

Formally established in early 2019 as an independent network, the Irish Food Champions has been in place since 2012 as a result of a Fáilte Ireland (Ireland’s national tourism development authority) initiative which sought nominations for those with the proven ability not only to champion Irish food, influence Irish cuisine, promote and develop Irish food tourism, but also individuals recognised locally as doers, networkers, connectors, and having an impact in their locality.

Drawn from across the food tourism spectrum, our collective is comprised of producers, chefs, brewers, restaurateurs, hoteliers, educators, retailers, academics, food historians, and festival organisers, amongst others. Having successfully shared our skills in developing events, experiences, networks, and relationships with food and beverage-focused individuals interested in tourism with Fáilte Ireland, the group now comes together as an independent entity to continue and develop the good work.

We work individually with our local food communities and together regionally, nationally, and internationally in building and delivering that unforgettable gastronomic experience with agencies, individuals, and businesses who seek our assistance and guidance. We seek out and champion the people and businesses around Ireland that do it right in offering that immersive experience and assist others to step up and provide a distinctive story and sense of place through their offering. The fellowship and connection of the Assembly is notable across Ireland and further afield in strengthening Ireland’s food and drink tourism landscape.
